Upcoming DICE-developed shooter
Battlefield 3 has now surpassed 2 million pre-orders in total, a week before the game is due to be released.
In an interview with Fox Business, Kevin O'Leary, project manager at Electronic Arts, which wholly owns DICE,
revealed that preorders of the game are now over 2 million.
"We're doing very, very well," he explained. "A couple million out there. We already announced some great numbers so far. A couple more weeks to go, and we're very excited."
He continued, "We're getting it out in a great window. Obviously holiday season is a great time to get the games out there. New thing for
Battlefield, too, coming out in this holiday window, so we're excited about it, to get it out there, get it in people's hands."
Analysts suggested last month that the game had seen around 1.5 million pre-orders altogether, way ahead of its predecessor title
Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
DICE also revealed this week that over eight million players took part in
the Battlefield 3 open beta.
