EA and Playfish's The Sims Social has overtaken Zynga's FarmVille in daily active users on Facebook. According to current statistics from tracking site AppData, the game now claims 9.3M DAUs, replacing FarmVille in the number two slot. The most popular game is still Zynga's CityVille, currently just shy of 14M DAUs. According to recent comments by EA CFO Eric Brown, the game is seeing a healthy amount of player retention as well: according to Brown, players play an average of three times per day in 15 to 20-minute sessions. "What has made [The Sims Social] a success so far is the Playfish expertise... combined with the creative excellence of the core Sims team," said Brown. "Those teams work together exceptionally well." The Sims Social currently claims just over 34M monthly active users, just shy of FarmVille's 35.6M.
