Fruit Ninja Dev Sees Repeat Success With Jetpack Joyride

Brisbane, Australia's Halfbrick (Fruit Ninja) appears to have another success on its hands, as its newest game Jetpack Joyride has managed to attract 350,000 downloads in its first week.
Australia's Halfbrick appears to have another success on its hands, as its newest game Jetpack Joyride has managed to attract 350,000 downloads in its first week. The developer behind the consistently top-selling Fruit Ninja announced the news Tuesday, saying that it now claims two of the Top 10 paid apps on Apple's App Store. The game, according to Gamasutra sister blog GameSetWatch, "plays sort of like those Cave games in which you're moving up and down an auto-sidescrolling environment to avoid obstacles, except here you're equipped with a jetpack that fires bullets at evil scientists below you." "We knew we had a great game with Jetpack Joyride, and we’re glad 350,000 people agree,” said Phil Larsen, Halfbrick CMO, in a statement. The game is available for $0.99 for all iOS devices. As of February, Halfbrick's Fruit Ninja had sold 6 million copies of its paid version on the iPhone alone. The game was recently released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, for use with its Kinect peripheral.
