[Every other week, Gamasutra examines the fastest-growing Facebook games according to monthly active users, looking at which titles and developers are having the most success attracting new players on the social network.] King.com, one of Facebook's biggest developers (second largest behind Zynga, if you go by daily active users), has continued to grow its audience with its Saga series of games -- three of them appeared on the site's "top gainers" chart last week. Candy Crush Saga, a recently launched puzzler from the studio, was the fastest growing game last week after picking up 2.2 million monthly active users, more than doubling its size to 4.2 million total players. It was followed by Rovio's Facebook edition of Angry Birds, which hasn't seen the same phenomenal success as its popular mobile releases but is still doing quite well with 24.1 million users on the social network; one million of them started playing in the last week. King.com's Bubble Witch Saga was the third fastest growing game last week with a million new players (24.1 million total), while Disney/Playdom's Marvel: Avengers Alliance, likely helped by anticipation for the debut of The Avengers film this Friday, took #4 with 900,000 new users (5.9 million total). After those games are Playdom's Disney Animal Kingdom with 710,000 new players (1.2 million total), Wooga's Diamond Dash with 700,000 new players (18.9 million total), and Playdom's Armies of Magic with 610,000 new players (720,000 total). Closing out the top ten are Cookapps' Buggle with 590,000 new users (770,000 total), Electronic Arts' Lucky Gem Casino with 540,000 new users (1.4 million total), and Geewa's Pool Live Tour with 500,000 new users (9.5 million total). The full list of the top 20 fastest growing Facebook games along with exact monthly active user counts, are as follows: All charts and data are courtesy of Facebook application metrics and trends site AppData.
