Castlevania Composer Michiru Yamane To Score Indie Fighter Skullgirls

Former Konami composer Michiru Yamane (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Contra: Hard Corps) will score her first Western-developed game with this year's Reverge-developed Skullgirls.
Long-time Konami music composer Michiru Yamane (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Contra: Hard Corps) will score her first Western-developed game. Publisher Autmn Games has announced that Yamane -- a 20-year Konami employee who recently went independent -- will create the soundtrack for Skullgirls, the first game by newcomer indie studio Reverge Labs. "When I heard about this project, I was very excited since this was my first time working with an American company," said Yamane in a video released today. "That made me really happy, because I've had so many American fans cheering me on throughout my career." Yamane is well known amongst video game music enthusiasts. Her career stretches all the way back to 1988's TwinBee, and has extended to Konami franchises that include Contra, Suikoden, Winning Eleven Soccer and the majority of the Castlevania games released in the past decade. Yamane left Konami in 2008 and became an independent contractor to, in her words, "work on a broader range of music."
