January 25 2023  - Developers Repixel8 and CGA Games are excited to announce that Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is heading to Kickstarter this February. Following exciting developments behind the scenes, the team is now aiming to make World Tour even bigger than its predecessor with additional gameplay mechanics, potential tracks and a physical release.

The Kickstarter campaign, which launches February 1st, aims to expand the original vision of the game by reaching a funding goal of £10,000 ($12,369 / €11,423) This additional funding will be invested in adding extra content which includes online multiplayer, new content created from backer suggestions and an expansion of the game's new VR mode.

Backer levels range from digital versions of the game, through to having a direct influence by designing tracks with support from the developers. Backers can also choose to support the game and receive a physical copy at launch on PS4, PS5 or the Nintendo Switch.

Using VR compatible headsets, players will be able to place themselves at the center of the action. Watch cars zoom past in your side window, or find the perfect overtake angle when approaching competitors from behind - experience it all from the cockpit of your car. Not for the faint of heart, this new mode adds a whole new dimension of immersion.

Announced late last year, Formula Retro Racing: World Tour is a retro racer updated for modern tastes. Taking visual inspiration from iconic 90s titles like Virtua RacerWorld Tour builds on its legacy by adding realistic driving and destruction physics, crisp and colorful 4K visuals with 60fps performance and a selection of gameplay modes. Staying true to genre expectations, World Tour also features split-screen multiplayer, enabling up to four players to huddle around the TV and duke it out to see who is the fastest.

Andrew Jeffreys, Repixel8 Director said: "Really excited to be working again with CGA studios on Formula Retro Racing: World Tour. Being a massive fan of arcade racers since the '90s, it's amazing to be able recreate the classic racing experience on World Tour. We've had loads of fantastic feedback so far throughout development and are looking forward to engaging with fans to make this the ultimate retro arcade racing game."

Jon Wetherall MD, CGA Studio Games Director  said: "CGA Studio are thrilled to be working alongside Repixel8 again, bringing our experience of making VR racing games to the old school retro arcade genre. We're fans of classic racers and think this project brings the best components of the genre together in an elevated way for new platforms."
